Thank you for your interest in having a baptism at St. Rose.  In Baptism, we initiate a belonging relationship – with Jesus, with His universal Church, with the local church present here in Newtown at St. Rose.

At St. Rose, baptisms are celebrated on Sundays at 1:30 p.m. or by special arrangement.  Please contact the office at 203-426-1014 for more information.

Parents who are having their first baby baptized and parents who have not participated in a baptism preparation class at St. Rose in the past five years are required to attend a class here at St. Rose.  In 2018, classes will be held on the following Sundays: January 28, April 8, June 3, August 5, October 7, and December 2.

The baptism class will begin at 1:30 pm and last approximately 3 hours.  Light refreshments will be served.  Please register for a class by calling Trish at the parish office, 203-426-1014.

An important part of the baptism of a child is the selection of godparents, who can assist in the growth of your child’s relationship with Jesus and His church.  Both godparents must be active Christians.  At least one of the godparents must be an adult, practicing Catholic, being at least 18 years of age, and having received the sacraments of initiation themselves – Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.  Catholic godparents who are not registered as parishioners at St. Rose, must obtain a sponsor certificate from their home parish and forward it to the St. Rose parish office at least one week prior to the baptism.

Please be sure to plan ahead in selecting godparents, alerting them that their home parish may require prospective godparents to attend a class before issuing a certificate to them.  If your godparents can make it, we encourage, but do not require them, to attend one of our baptism preparation classes.
