The Healing Journey

Help For You to Get Through the Holidays

For those who are grieving, the holidays can be incredibly challenging and emotionally difficult, according to Carolyn Killian, Director of Bereavement.

“I’ve seen so many people whose grief is heightened because of the isolation they feel over the holidays when our society is celebrating,” she said. “People are busy with great anticipation, looking forward to a wonderful time with their loved ones. When you are grieving, everyone else’s happiness can make you feel more alone and isolated. Not many people understand what you’re going through or give you advice on how to navigate the emotional demands. So, we have developed a short audiocast titled “Getting Through the Holidays.”

This podcast will give you the confidence to determine what you can and can’t do, to place your well-being first, and to communicate your feelings and needs to others.

Precious Memories

By Gabriele Embray

We weren’t prepared that day
When God called you away.
So many tears we cried,
Longing to keep you at our side.

How we loved and missed you so
And weren’t ready to let you go.
But it gives us comfort to know
Within the twinkling of our eyes
You entered into paradise.

A place with beauty beyond measure,
Eternal happiness and treasure,
Where you have no more pain and tears
Nor sorrow, worries, and fears.

Although for now we are apart,
Your precious memories live in our heart,
Until God calls us each to Heaven’s door,
Where we will be reunited, forever more.
